John Coburn 

John is the Managing Director at PraxisNow, a specialist digital marketing consultancy.

His seminars on various aspects of digital marketing have been attended by thousands of organisations across Ireland and the UK and he has privately mentored many of them to improve their digital presence and grow sales in national and international markets.

Over his twenty-seven year international business career John held senior management roles with organisations including Westinghouse, Mentec International and WBT Systems. He has lived and worked in Japan and has spent extended periods building, developing and managing major accounts in the USA, Europe, Middle East and AustralAsia.

In 2004 he transitioned from his role as Director of Sales with International Banking Software firm Deecal International (acquired by First Data Corp.) to a full-time focus on digital marketing with PraxisNow. During this transition, he became a student of the late Cory Rudl, one of the recognised early stage internet entrepreneurs in the USA.

John is a consultant to several exporting Irish firms. He is a regular speaker for Enterprise Ireland, IBEC and the Marketing Institute of Ireland. He is the author of two books - “Selling High value Software” (’05) and “Components of Internet Marketing Strategy” (’05), and lectures in search marketing on the Marketing Institute’s Digital Marketing Executive Programme.

WHAT IS IT?

An intensive (it will tax you mentally), right-up-to-the-minute one day training programme in Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). The programme will take you from first principles in SEO through to a proficient level of independence in directly targeting placement of your website against relevant key-phrases.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

According to Forrester, 89% of "off-line" purchases are influenced in advance by an online search. That is why SEO is at the core of most digital marketing initiatives that are undertaken in 2012.

Just as importantly perhaps, because you can target search placement based on the exact phraseology used in a search, it means that you can "intercept" potential visitors when they are ready to buy - not just when you are ready to sell. In other words, visitor traffic to your website that is generated from SEO is the very best pre-qualified traffic you could possibly acquire. Because it is more likely to convert, SEO, coupled with a conversion-focussed online sales process, will have a major and direct impact on sales.

PROGRAMME FORMAT

A full-day SEO training course with lots of interaction and live demonstrations. Although not necessary, feel free to bring with you a  wifi or 3G broadband enabled laptop computer. You might like to follow along with many of the live demonstrations.

Times are 9.30am to 3.45/4.00pm with two refreshment breaks (refreshments are included but lunch is not) and a 45 minute break for lunch. Please note that  lunch will be for you own account and is not included.
